you don't need a remedy for that
please be discerning. most of the time, your body can take care of itself
There’s a theme that I’ve noticed in posts about homeopathy.
Everyone wants to write about, and hear about remedies.
There’s a remedy for that!
For earaches.
For stomachaches
For eczema.
For hives.
For headache.
For sore muscles.
For anxiety.
For a bad mood.
ETC.
But here is the deal, y’all.
Most of the time, you don’t need a remedy for that.
Please. I’m begging you to listen up — this is probably the most important thing you will ever learn about homeopathy.
Homeopathy is a very powerful, subtle form of medicine. It isn’t like taking an aspirin, or an antihistamine, or a vitamin — and you should not use it that way.
But the reason you shouldn’t use it that way might surprise you.
homeopathic suppression
Homeopathy functions in the body in a way that impacts your energy. We don’t know exactly how, but studies coming out of Greece and India suggest that a homeopathic remedy may impact the spin of electrons, and/or influence the electromagnetic field that your body generates.
Homeopathy is not harmless.
Homeopathy is gentle — but it is acting on a very deep level. That means that it can and will cause some effect. Many people believe, and the story circulates, that if you get the right remedy, it will help, and if you get the wrong remedy, it will do nothing.
Not true.
An incorrect remedy can cause a homeopathic suppression. This has happened to me. I have done it to myself. I took an incorrect remedy for UTI, and while my UTI symptoms got somewhat better, my mood plummeted into despair and apathy almost instantaneously.
A homeopathic remedy is NEVER for a symptom.
It is always for the WHOLE organism.
And it always impacts the whole organism, because it is hitting on the bioenergetic level.
Use with caution.
when to use a remedy
I limit my use of remedies to circumstances where symptoms are either stuck, or have become destructive, and I teach home practitioners to do the same.
When symptoms are stuck, you see a lack of improvement.
For instance, a child who is mostly better but the cough is lingering for days, and even though the cough isn’t particularly troubling, it isn’t getting better either.
Destructive symptoms are veering towards the danger zone, or are preventing a person from doing the things that are necessary to get well.
Example: your child is vomiting every 30 minutes, and cannot keep anything down. If that goes on for any amount of time, the child will become dehydrated and exhausted, and then recovery will be much more difficult.
In general, any time symptoms are interfering with a person’s ability to eat, drink or rest, I would consider giving a remedy.
And one more thing! Make sure, if you are giving a remedy, that you have a CLEAR picture. By clear picture, I mean that you see at least three clear, specific symptoms of the remedy, from different categories — physical, mental, emotional, general, modalities, etiology (causality).
So please — stop giving remedies for minor bruising, for mild headaches, or because you are tired, or in a bad mood.
let your body do its own work
For one thing, when you are giving a remedy that isn’t indicated or necessary, you risk confusing the system.
But for another thing, you are robbing the organism of the opportunity to do its own work. If a person is able to overcome an illness or imbalance without homeopathy, or other medication, that builds strength.
If we are always tying our kids shoes for them, because we are in a rush to get out the door, before you know it, they will be 8 years old and unable to tie shoes (ask me how I know :-).
If we are always jumping in with a remedy — even if it is well-chosen — the system will not fully develop its own healing resources.
Obviously — this is a big topic. There are about three other articles that I could write here — and soon I will!
In the meantime, let me know if you have any questions!
And I’d like to know — what do you think? Have you seen posts, encouraging you that there is a remedy for that? Has this article changed your perspective on when to use a remedy?

YES! Thankyou for writing this. It's been on my mind for some time - and you found a beautiful way to write about it!
Cheers to this! I see it so often on Insta and with my clients...when I first learned homeopathy prior to becoming a homeopath, I was popping remedies for everything, too. It is, in part, the fear of symptoms and the intolerance for discomfort that perpetuates this (along with a misunderstanding about homeopathy, of course). Well shared!
